Cylinder head

Apply a 8,0 mm diameter bead of WSS-M4G323-A10 sealant to cylinder head gasket. Assemble components within 10 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.

Cylinder head sealant application

Renew bolts: Yes

  1. 7 Nm
  2. 15 Nm
  3. 55 Nm
  4. 90°
  5. 90°
Cylinder head tightening sequence
Main bearings / Big end bearings Measurement of bearing clearance is not possible by normal methods and should not be attempted, as this will result in damage to the cylinder block and crankshaft. If the bearing bolts have been loosened the entire cylinder block and crankshaft must be replaced.
Oil pump to cylinder block 10 Nm → 20 Nm
Sump bolts

Apply a 3,0 mm diameter bead of sealant (Ford specification WSS-M4G323-A10) to sump. Assemble components within 10 minutes.

Tighten bolts in the following stages:

  1. Finger tighten
  2. Timing side = 10 Nm
  3. Sump = 20 Nm
  4. Sump to transmission = 48 Nm

Sump drain bolt 26 Nm
Flywheel/driveplate Use new bolts. 50 Nm → 80 Nm → 112 Nm
Clutch pressure plate Use new bolts. 10 Nm → 20 Nm → 29 Nm
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt Use new bolt. 100 Nm + 180°
Camshaft sprocket/gear 40 Nm + 90°
Camshaft carrier/cap

Apply a 1,0 mm diameter bead of WSS-M2G348-A11 sealant to mating surface of inlet camshaft rear cap. Assemble components within 10 minutes.

Tighten bolts in the following stages:

  1. Finger tighten
  2. 7 Nm
  3. 16 Nm
Camshaft carrier cap tightening sequence
Camshaft/rocker cover 10 Nm
Inlet manifold to cylinder head 20 Nm
Exhaust downpipe to manifold 48 Nm
Water pump 10 Nm
Spark plugs 12 Nm
Fuel rail Finger tighten → 8 Nm → 26°
Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor 7 Nm
Camshaft position (CMP) sensor 7 Nm
Lambda sensor (Oxygen) 48 Nm
Knock sensor (KS) 20 Nm
Engine oil pressure switch 15 Nm
Oil filter 15 Nm
Front hub 80 Nm + 90°
Rear hub Use new bolt. 50 Nm
Rear hub - wheel bearing housing bolts Use new bolts. 110 Nm
Steering wheel 48 Nm
Steering rack/box mounting 110 Nm → Slacken off 360° → 55 Nm → 180°
Steering track rod end 48 Nm
Brake caliper to carrier (Front) 28 Nm
Brake caliper/carrier to hub (Front) Use new bolts. 115 Nm + 90°
Brake caliper to carrier (Rear) 28 Nm
Brake caliper/carrier to hub (Rear) 30 Nm + 90°
ABS sensor (Front) 5 Nm
ABS sensor (Rear) 5 Nm
Road wheels 135 Nm. Do NOT lubricate studs or nuts. Lightly coat mating surfaces between wheel centre hole and hub (use grease).
