Main bearings tightening sequence

Lubricate threads and mating surfaces of bolts.
Stage 1: 45 Nm
Stage 2: 90°
Oil pump to cylinder block8 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Sump boltsUpper sump:
Use new bolts.
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to cylinder block fig1.
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to upper sump fig2.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Tighten bolts in the following stages:
1-14 = 8 Nm
1-2 = 180°
3-9 = 45°
10 = 180°
11-14 = 90°

Timing chain cover with 8 bolts = 4 Nm + 45°
Timing chain cover with 15 bolts = 8 Nm + 45°
Oil baffle plate = 4 Nm + 45°
Lower sump:
Use new bolts.
Tighten bolts in the following stages:
8 Nm

Sump bolts tightening sequence
Sump drain bolt30 Nm
Flywheel/driveplate60 Nm + 90°/- (Use new nuts/bolts)
Clutch pressure plate13 Nm M7=20 Nm
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt150 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Camshaft carrier/capApply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of sealant to mating surface of camshaft cover fig1.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Use new bolts.
Tighten all bolts in rows 1-6 to 8 Nm.
Tighten all bolts in rows 1-6 a further 90°.
