Lubricate threads and mating surfaces of bolts.
Stage 1: 45 Nm
Stage 2: 90°
Oil pump to cylinder block8 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Sump boltsUpper sump:
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to cylinder block fig 1.
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to upper sump fig 2.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Sump must be fitted with 18 bolts, even if only 14 bolts were removed.
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages fig 3:
1-18 = 8 Nm
1-2 = 180°
3-13 = 45°
14-18 = 90°
Oil baffle plate must be renewed after removal.
Oil pick up pipe (use new bolts) = 4 Nm + 45°
Oil baffle plate (use new bolts) = 4 Nm + 45°
Timing chain cover bolts (use new bolts):
Steel bolts = 8 Nm + 45°
Aluminium bolts = 4 Nm + 45°
Sump to transmission = 40 Nm
Metal lower sump:
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to sump fig 4.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages fig 5:
Finger tighten.

Wait 30 minutes before filling engine with oil.
Plastic sump:
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages fig 6:
Finger tighten.
8 Nm

Sump bolts tightening sequence
Sump drain bolt30 Nm (Use new drain bolt/sealing plug. Plastic sump sealing plug is tightened as far as stop (use tool No. T10549).)
Flywheel/driveplate60 Nm + 90°/- (Use new nuts/bolts)
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt150 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Camshaft/rocker coverApply a 1,5-2,5 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to camshaft cover fig 1.
Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Move exhaust camshaft sliding cam units into installation position before fitting camshaft cover fig 2.
Use new bolts. Tighten bolts in rows 1-6 in the following stages:
Finger tighten.
