Tighten bolts 1-10 in the following stages:
Finger tighten all bolts.

Lubricate threads and mating surfaces of bolts.
Stage 1: 45 Nm
Stage 2: 90°
Oil pump to cylinder block8 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Sump boltsUpper sump:
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to cylinder block fig 1.
Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of silicone sealant to upper sump fig 2.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Sump must be fitted with 18 bolts, even if only 14 bolts were removed.
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages fig 3:
Version with aluminium bolts:
1-18 = 8 Nm
1-2 = 180°
3-13 = 45°
14-18 = 90°
Version with steel and aluminium bolts:
1-13 (Steel bolts) = 15 Nm
14-18 (Aluminium bolts) = 8 Nm
1-18 = 90°
Oil baffle plate must be renewed after removal.
Oil baffle plate = 4 Nm + 45° (use new bolts)
Timing chain cover bolts = 8 Nm + 45° (use new bolts)
Lower sump
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages fig 4:
Finger tighten.

Sump bolts tightening sequence
Sump drain boltUse new drain bolt/sealing plug.
Plastic sump sealing plug is tightened as far as stop (use tool No. T10549).
Flywheel/driveplate60 Nm + 90°/- (Use new nuts/bolts)
Clutch pressure plate13 Nm M7=20 Nm
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt150 Nm + 90° (Use new nuts/bolts)
Camshaft carrier/capApply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of sealant to mating surface of camshaft cover fig 1.
Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.
Use new bolts.
Tighten all bolts in rows 1-6 to 8 Nm.
Tighten all bolts in rows 1-6 a further 90°.

Use new bolt and tighten in the following stages:
Tighten to 200 Nm with wheels off the ground.
Lower car to the ground and tighten a further 180°.
