Cylinder head tightening sequence

Tighten bolts in the following stages:

  1. 25 Nm
  2. 90°
  3. 90°
  4. 90°
  5. 15°

Main bearingsApply sealant to grooves in rear main bearing cap.
Use new bolts and tighten in the following stages:
50 Nm
45°

Big end bearingsUse new bolts and tighten to 35 Nm + 45° + 15°.
Oil pump to cylinder block8 Nm
Sump boltsSump upper part to cylinder block = 20 Nm
Sump upper part to transmission = 40 Nm
Sump lower part to sump upper part = 8 Nm + 30°
Sump drain bolt10 Nm
Flywheel/driveplateUse new bolts.
Flywheel = 65 Nm + 30° + 15°
Drive plate = 55 Nm + 30° + 15°
Clutch pressure plate15 Nm
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt20 Nm
Camshaft sprocket/gearUse new bolts and tighten in the following stages:
50 Nm

Camshaft carrier/cap8 Nm

Inlet manifold to cylinder head22 Nm. Use new nuts/bolts.
Exhaust manifold to cylinder headUse new nuts. Work from centre outwards and tighten in the following stages:

Chassis Tightening Torques

Component Torque
Front hubUse new nut and tighten as follows:
120 Nm
Slacken off
20 Nm + 80°
If necessary, turn nut further to align split pin.
Front hub - wheel bearing housing bolts90 Nm + 30° + 15°. Clean thread and use nuts/bolts with locking fluid.
Rear hub - wheel bearing housing bolts50 Nm + 30° + 15°. Use new nuts.
Steering wheel20 Nm. Clean thread and use nuts/bolts with locking fluid.
Steering rack/box mounting45 Nm + 45° + 15°. Use new nuts/bolts.
Steering track rod end50 Nm. Use new nuts.
Brake disc to hubFront: 4 Nm
Hub assembly with integrated brake carrier = 7 Nm
Brake caliper to carrierFront: 28 Nm
Brake caliper/carrier to hubFront: 110 Nm. Clean thread and use bolts with locking fluid.
Brake disc to hubRear: 4 Nm
Brake caliper to carrierRear: 25 Nm. Clean thread, fit new bolts and apply locking fluid.
Brake caliper/carrier to hubRear: 100 Nm. Clean thread and use bolts with locking fluid.
Road wheels110 Nm. Lightly coat conical seat of bolt and mating surfaces between wheel centre hole and hub (use grease). Do NOT lubricate bolt thread.
